Bean supremacy

AFBodyDressFloral and TFBodyDressFloral replaced with Biffy’s floral recolors of DeeDee’s Gathered Sleeve Dress. @themeasureofasim made a similar default recently; however, two of the colors I used are different (the pink one is the same), and I didn’t include the poodle skirt. Also, I had this sitting in my folder for weeks, and I didn’t want it to go to waste.

Anyway, it’s for teen, young adult, and adult female sims, available as everyday only, comes in the three colors shown above, and each age has the appropriate morphs (Olivia’s modeling the pregmorph again). Since the outfit being replaced is from the Nightlife EP, that is required for this to work in your game.

@holleyberry inadvertently reminded me that doing this was on my to-do list at one point…and then it got pushed to a back burner…and then it got entirely shoved off the cooktop…

Anyway, these are these roofs that were made by CuriousB and ZeroDark, only you don’t need the roof shader mod recommended in that downloaded so that the colors of these show correctly in-game. They’re clones/recolors of the Maxis slate roof. I can’t really take any credit for these at all. All I did was pull the textures from the original files, plop them into the color-correcting roof-making template I made, and then made new roofs from the resulting texture images.

Unlike the originals, I didn’t make these basegame compatible. (I mean, does anyone play basegame-only these days??? And why would anyone want to?) You will need at least one EP (It doesn’t matter which one), and in your Roof Materials catalog, these will have a custom-content star, so you can safely delete any or all of them in-game if you want to. This also means that you can have these and the originals in your game at the same time if you’d want, as they have different GUIDs.

To be honest, I’m less than happy with these. It’s mostly because I’m less than happy with the Maxis texture in general. It’s blurry and blotchy and yuck. So, I’m probably going to re-do these from scratch, see if I can make a better version of the Maxis texture, maybe up the resolution or something, I dunno. The other issue is that the lighter/brighter colors don’t have enough contrast between the color of the slate pieces and the shadows between them. This is exacerbated by the color-correcting. So, yeah, they need fixing. But I figured I’d stick these up here in the meantime, for anyone who might want these roofs but who doesn’t want to be roped into using a mod so that they aren’t too dark. The dark and mid-range colors, at least, look pretty good.

So….Want some roofs? 

A few weeks back, I figured out how to make new roof textures that work properly and how to make colors display properly in spite of Maxis’s weird roof lighting without relying on a mod. So, now I’m making new roofs and colors for them. This is the first of two that I have ready at the moment. They’re rectangular asphalt shingles, similar to the Maxis one that the game uses by default when building roofs, but it’s in a better scale, at least in my own opinion.

Roofs have to be made as clones, not as recolors, so this will add 22 new swatches in a range of realistic colors to your roof material catalog. They all have white(ish) edges and undersides as shown in the “title” picture above. Please note that I let these use the random GUIDs that SimPE generates for roofs rather than dedicated GUIDs from my block of them. Because of this, it is remotely possible (but not likely) that these might conflict with other custom roofs you might have. Also because of this, these aren’t basegame compatible. They will have a custom star so that you can safely delete them in-game if you want, and they will require at least one EP. It doesn’t matter which one; you just can’t be basegame only. (Seriously, does anyone still play that way? :) )

If by chance you have niol’s roof lighting mod, these will look…odd in your game. As in, way too bright. Rather than use that mod, I have figured out through trial and error how to compensate for the Maxis roof lighting that darkens/yellows the color down from the roof’s texture image color, and these roofs are made that way. I decided not to make a version meant to be used with that mod. 

The above pic showing the colors was made from unedited in-game pictures taken on the sunny side of a roof, and there’s a copy of it included in the download file. The files are compressed and clearly named, so that you can easily delete ones you don’t want.

Magic Stealth Hood (Empty)

This is an empty version of the “Magic” stealth hood that came with Apartment Life containing my lot makeovers. I’ve used the clean & empty template by @jawusa as a base.

Magic Stealth Hood contains:

• No bin families, townies, NPCs or strays
• Makeovers of Palace of Neverending Light & Fortress of Eternal Darkness
• New hood thumbnail
• More hood deco

If you want the bin families that came with the original magic stealth hood (Gavigan, Goodie & Newson) I recommend using @meetmetotheriver​’s shopping hoods that add the stealth families.

That way you won’t have the bin families added to every single hood that has a magic stealth hood attached.

A Good High Witch/Warlock or Evil High Witch/Warlock will spawn when sims visit the lots.

Note that this template won’t replace a magic stealth hood that is already attached to a main hood. You’ll need to create a new neighborhood for the game to use the new magic stealth template.

obviously the entirety of T.ERF ideology is based on lies, falsehoods and (self-)deception but there's this one particular thing T.ERFs spread online that I find like, so laughably false and I think any trans person going through medical transition would too... the conspiratorial idea that pharma companies are like, trying to generate gender dysphoria and make more trans people to sell more hormones, and are "peddling" their drugs to trans people.

like... okay, just imagine you're me. I open my generic brand CPA and look at the insert. All of the information is mostly relevant to its usage in prostate cancer, with a couple of notes about "female hirsutism". There is no mention of its use in trans hrt. I have to cut the pill into quarters and take that only once every few days because the lowest dosage available is 50mg, which is excessively high in most cases for transfeminine hormone therapy.

Then I open my Estradiol Valerate pills. The insert describes extensively the possible risks and effects for postmenopausal cis women. Again, nothing transition related. I take these thrice daily, sublingually. The pills aren't designed to be taken this way and it takes a while for it to be fully dissolved. Despite sublingual/buccal administration being quite common among transfems, often suggested by clinics/doctors, and being the subject of studies testing and confirming the efficacy of this route of administration, there has still never been an estradiol product marketed that was designed to be taken this way.

My "lived reality" contradicts this absurd paranoid theory, to an almost comedic level. Pharma companies really don't care about trans people. We're irrelevant to them, and make up an insignificant proportion of the user-base of any given drug. Practically all drugs used in HRT are beyond patent protection, too, making any efforts by a particular pharma company to promote its use futile and not profitable.

Yeah, to corroborate this from a brazilian perspective, I have used 7 different estradiol products in the roughly three years since starting hrt (because they keep going out of stock) and not a single one of them mentioned anything about gender dysphoria or trans people, or even gave information that might be pertinent to people who are not cafab. The doctors themselves are also dangerously clueless about this stuff, as both the private endocrinologist I consulted and the national healthcare system in my country prescribe Diane 35, a birth control pill, to trans women, despite it being far less effective than e-valerate or bioidentical e. The ONLY way to obtain HRT marketed for trans women is from trans women themselves.

Like literally the first doc I got script from was pretty much like I'm not exactly sure what I'm doing here but we'll figure it out.

I’m not sure if anyone else would be interested in this default, but eh, I’ll share it just in case :-)

This is a texture default replacement for the food boxes from Pets. I used the textures from EA’s “posterpetfood” and made the food boxes a bit more detailed ( ´༎ຶㅂ༎ຶ`)b

I also edited Shakeshaft’s pet food deco (warning T$R). I edited the sale value from 0 to 20 and edited the catalogue to general - pets instead of deco - misc. I also repo’d the mesh to “accessorypetfoodbox-catdog” and made two recolors (merged into one package) which are repo’d to "accessorypetfoodbox-mammal” and “accessorypetfoodbox-bird”. You can’t have both my edit and Shakeshaft’s original mesh in your downloads folder, so choose one! My recolors will work with Shakeshaft’s original, if you for some reason don’t want my edited version but my recolors. My default is not necessary for my edit of Shakeshaft’s mesh and said edit is not necessary for my default to work. Pick and choose what you want!

And don’t worry, you can still recolor Shakeshaft’s mesh using my file and existing recolors will work :-) I did edit the mapping a bit (to get rid of the “opened” texture) so recolors not based on EA’s texture might look weird.

As usual, remember you can only have one default replacement for the pet food boxes in your downloads folder at a time! All files have been compressed and do let me know if you encounter any issues!

This isn’t adding ice just for the sake of denial, it’s adding to the Earth’s albedo. This in turn actually makes the Earth’s climate cooler, and then more ice will be produced naturally because of this.

It isn’t a process we need to continue forever, in fact it’s one that needs to be calculated so that we don’t do it TOO MUCH. The only worry would be cooling down too much.

So yes, this is a good idea. It simply isn’t the only thing we should do because we still have gross pollution.

For the love of god do it . anything just do it. Give us hope.

Here’s the thing: Most environmental catastrophes humans have ever or are currently creating can be fixed. It’s not just a matter of “oh no, things are ruined, and maybe we can stop the degradation so that things don’t get any worse, but we’re stuck with how things are.” There are some things we can’t do, like bringing back extinct species. But there are a lot of other things we can definitely do, many of which are being done right now. The problem is that most of our willpower and effort is spent on bullshit tiny things that won’t solve the problem (individual recycling, etc.) and not on the large-scale things that can and will make a large-scale difference.

Ice caps are melting? Guess what! We know how to make ice. It’s not that hard. Designing mostly-automated robot ships to go to the poles and rebuild the ice caps is well within our current technical capabilities. We just need to fund it.

Deforestation on a massive scale? Destruction of other biomes? Guess what! We know how to plant trees. We know how to plant grasslands. We know how to take barren, lifeless land and turn it back into a viable biome. It’s not that hard. In a lot of cases, if there’s neighboring areas where that biome still exists, all you have to do is dump a few tons of biomass (plant clippings, food waste, etc.) on the barren land and stand back and wait. The biomass will provide nutrients and keep the topsoil from blowing away, and the plants and animals from the neighboring biome will move in. In two decades, even if you don’t do anything besides dumping the biomass on it, you won’t be able to tell what was the barren area and what was the still-existing biome.

Coral reefs dying? Now, coral reefs are a bit more fragile than most biomes, but guess what! We still know how to replant/rebuild them, and in fact are working on that in places affected by coral reef die-off! And we’re learning how to do it better every day.

Desertification? Guess what! We know how to turn desert back into green space. They’re doing it on a large scale in China and sub-Saharan Africa. There are several different techniques, none of which are even very technology-intensive. It takes money and time and labor, but it’s perfectly doable. We know this because we’ve done it.

Plastic in the ecosystem, particularly in the ocean? Guess what! There’s a lot of people working on this, both on “how to remove plastic from the ocean” and “how to reuse/recycle it more efficiently.” And the techniques are improving by leaps and bounds every year. This is a solvable problem. These are all solvable problems.

So if you’re crushed by the weight of the coming environmental catastrophe … don’t be. These are all solvable problems! We can stop things from getting worse, and we can fix the things we’ve broken. The issue is political, not practical.

On the political side, of course, is the need to tighten up environmental regulations across the globe. (What’s the statistic, that 90% of pollution is caused by 100 corporations?) And then of course, we need to fund these programs on a large enough scale.

In some ways the political aspect is the hardest, but consider this: we are at a tipping point. Things are changing about the way politicians talk about climate change and ecological degradation. More ordinary people are concerned about this, which means more pressure on politicians. One of the ways that things are changing is that people–even conservatives–are starting to talk about “job opportunities in new green fields” and switching the conversation so that it’s not “rainforest vs. jobs” makes political action a lot more possible. And no, it’s not going to happen on its own, but it can happen.

This is a solvable problem.
